SULEKHA NAIDU as “Latha Kumar
After leaving Odessa, Texas upon graduation, Sulekha studied acting at Yale University for a summer. After spending 2 years at the University of Texas at Austin majoring in Economics, Sulekha decided to make the move out west. She transferred to Pepperdine University and majored in Theater and Business Administration. By working at various casting offices, production offices, and talent agencies, Sulekha was able to get a feel for the business. Sulekha graduated with a degree in Business Administration and began to pursue her acting career full time.
Sulekha has appeared in the film ONE NIGHT STAND, with Wesley Snipes and Nastassja Kinski, and the hit TV show “Seinfeld.” Her greatest satisfaction thus far has been playing a doctor on NBC’s “ER.” She has also appeared recently on the hit TV shows “Scrubs” and “Brothers and Sisters.” Sulekha also produced and appeared in the short film BADGER. BADGER received high praise at the prestigious Clermont Ferraud Film Festival in France. She was also the production coordinator for the Bollywood blockbuster KAANTE. Sulekha is making her debut as a lead, as well as co-producer, in this feature film. Currently, Sulekha is working on other features she plans to produce.
JAMIE ELMAN as “Colin”
Jamie Elman will be seen in the independent feature WHEN NIETZSCHE WEPT opposite Armand Assante and Ben Cross, where he portrays a young Sigmund Freud. Jamie is best known for his role as Luke, the resident piano-playing record store guy and boyfriend, on NBC’s award-winning drama “American Dreams.”
Born in New York City and raised in Montreal, Jamie has been acting professionally since age 16. He starred in numerous films and television series before landing the lead role of Cody in FOX’s hit teen sitcom “Student Bodies,” which made him a household name in Canada. He was part of the ensemble cast of the critically acclaimed film SHATTERED GLASS opposite Hayden Christensen and Peter Sarsgaard and has guest-starred on numerous popular series including “Without A Trace,” “CSI: NY,” “The Closer” and “Crossing Jordan.” He also completed his second feature film with Armand Assante entitled CALIFORNIA DREAMING.
Jamie graduated from McGill University with a BA in English. A multi-talented performer, he is also an accomplished pianist and singer. He currently resides in Los Angeles.
MEGAN WARD as “Rebecca”
After graduating high school, the aspiring starlet Megan Ward, packed two trunks and boarded a plane headed towards her destiny: Hollywood, California. During years of waiting tables, she studied at the prestigious Groundlings and Loft Studios. The latter is where she met her husband, Michael. After unknowingly landing the role of her life, of wife & mother, Megan officially began her career with a starring role in the Sci-Fi film CRASH AND BURN. She was finally a working actress. Her career continued to build with more visible roles as she entered the studio system with titles such as ENCINO MAN, PCU and JOE’S APARTMENT. During that time she alternated between films and television work, by appearing in short lived TV shows including “Class of ’96” and “Dark Skies.” Megan also appeared on the hit Fox show “Party of Five.”
In this latest chapter of her life, Megan has enjoyed some of her most satisfying professional work as Donnie Wahlberg’s tortured wife on the NBC series “Boomtown” and her most recent role of the misunderstood boss in WAKING DREAMS. Megan can also be seen in the upcoming feature film, THE CONJURING.
MAURIZIO RASTI as “Ashwin”
An artist at heart, Maurizio’s first love was not acting. After living in Ohio for most of his young life, Maurizio moved to New York City to attend the acclaimed Parsons School of Design. His dreams of working in design and fashion were soon replaced with dreams of working in film and television. After finding immediate success working in theatre and student films, he moved to Los Angeles and began working. Two of his projects, Cineville’s G.I. JESUS and Lions Gate’s SLAUGHTERHOUSE MASSACRE have been well received. He has also appeared on NBC’s “E-Ring,” VH-1’s “Kept” and the FOX pilot “Union Jackass.” Maurizio most recently had a recurring role on the hit ABC Family show “Wildfire.”
She has appeared in over twenty films, including THE INDIAN IN THE CUPBOARD, CHUTNEY POPCORN, Merchant Ivory’s COTTON MARY and THE MYSTIC MASSEUR, as well as Jonathan Demme’s THE TRUTH ABOUT CHARLIE and THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE, and Garry Marshall’s RAISING HELEN.
Sakina is currently writing a one-woman show about immigrant employees as well as a screenplay, POSE OF THE CHILD, about a disintegrating family. She also has a recurring role in “The Block,” a new teen drama for MTV’s “N” Network. Her upcoming projects include THE NANNY DIARIES and the feature film ODE.
MAGGIE WHEELER as “Jenny”
Maggie Wheeler was born and raised in New York City. As a summer student at The American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco, Maggie was fortunate to have as her teacher the great Anna Deavere Smith, with whom, Maggie continued to study and perform within New York City.
In the mid 80′s Maggie landed a role in the ensemble cast of “The New Show,” a prime time sketch comedy show for NBC, directed by Lorne Michaels of SNL. The show gave Maggie the opportunity to work with great talents such as, Steve Martin, Raul Julia, John Candy, Kevin Kline, Penny Marshall and many more.
During the time that Maggie was recording episodes of a cartoon called “Silver Hawks,” she met director Henry Jaglom. They made the movie NEW YEAR’S DAY that went on to represent the U.S. at the Venice Film Festival. Maggie won the Best Actress Award at the Cinetex Comedy Festival in Las Vegas for her performance in the film. As a result, she also had the great honor of appearing on “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson” and made many appearances on TV shows including “L.A. Law,” “Doogie Howser, M.D.” and “Seinfeld.”
Maggie then landed the role of Janice on “Friends,” for which she is probably best known. What started out as a guest spot on a single episode turned into a ten season recurring role that has made its way into TV history. Simultaneously she was filming episodes in another recurring role on the CBS hit “Everybody Loves Raymond,” as Linda Gruenfelder opposite Tom McGowen.
Maggie currently lives in Los Angeles with her two children and artist husband and continues to work steadily in television, film and voice-over.
NAVID NEGAHBAN as “Toly”
Persian by birth and a Gypsy by nature, Navid has spent the past 5 years in Los Angeles building a strong career in television and film. Navid began acting in his youth, before traveling to Germany to hone his theatrical skills. He then made his way to the US eight years later with dreams of the silver screen. Along with WAKING DREAMS, recent film credits include a modern version of RICHARD III with David Carradine, and BROKEN with Heather Graham. Many people recognize Navid from JIHAD, an award-winning short film/comedy. He has guest-starred in numerous hit TV shows including “Without a Trace” and “Criminal Minds,” as well as the controversial ABC miniseries, “The Path to 9/11”about the events leading up to 9/11. Some of Navid’s other TV credits include “Lost,” “The West Wing,” “The Shield,” “24,” “Las Vegas,” and “The Unit,” written and directed by David Mamet. He has appeared in episodes of “Law & Order: SVU” and “Navy NCIS” and filmed CHARLIE WILSON’S WAR for director Mike Nichols and BROTHERS for director Jim Sheridan.
